Fluorescence imaging

What is Fluorescence imaging?

Fluorescence imaging, incorporating Fluorescence imaging cameras, is a widely employed technique across multiple scientific disciplines, encompassing biology, chemistry, and materials science. Its primary function is to visualise and analyse the distribution and behaviour of fluorescent molecules within a given sample. This method capitalises on the unique property of certain substances known as fluorophores or fluorescent dyes, which absorb light at one wavelength and subsequently emit it at a longer wavelength within the visible light spectrum.

The applications of fluorescence imaging, facilitated by Fluorescence imaging cameras, span a broad spectrum of fields including cell biology, microbiology, neuroscience, genetics, cancer research, and materials science. Its utility extends to various methodologies such as fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). These techniques enable researchers to explore the localisation, interactions, and dynamics of biological molecules and structures with high precision and sensitivity.

Applications of fluorescence imaging are diverse and include cell biology, microbiology, neuroscience, genetics, cancer research, and materials science. It is commonly used in techniques like fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, and fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) to investigate the localisation, interactions, and dynamics of biological molecules and structures.
